Warming Your Vehicle

As the weather changes, we all have to think about “winterizing” our vehicle. After all, driving in the winter is very different from driving in the spring, summer or fall. I constantly find myself always telling others to make sure they warm their vehicles. After a short search on the topic, I have found that warming your vehicle is not necessary.

The ultimate goal to warming a vehicle is to insure proper oil flow and lubrication. With the evolution of technology in vehicles, it does not take long to get the oil circulating. There are also effects of warming a vehicle that I had not considered….. like the environment.

Warming a vehicle, or allowing the vehicle to idle unnecessarily creates pollution. In consideration of mother Earth, one would do better driving to warm their vehicle; and thereby creating an efficiency. Additionally, warming your vehicle wastes gas. Who doesn’t want to save gas?

Warming your vehicle can also be dangerous for two reasons. One, it can create an opportunity for theft and two, if you warm a vehicle near a garage, it may create an environment for carbon poisoning.
