Careless Driving Choices

Driving is very common in the world as far as maneuvering to various places. People drive to the store or to work. Driving is very common in getting from point A to point B. In this common driving to various places, you can get easily distracted. This is without alcohol interference. So imagine being under the influence and having to operate a vehicle. We still have not factored in your emotions and other natural distractions that are factored in as well. I came across a story of a bus driver in New Jersey that the students texted their parents to let them know something was not right about the bus driver.
The story further states that she was arrested and then released on $85000 bail.

My first issue with this is, of course, she was driving under the influence. I’m not sure of the safety rules and regulations for the school district, however, if the bus driver would have taken a Driver Safety course, or taken it more seriously, this situation could have been avoided. Most companies have to meet a certain safety requirement with OSHA and there are Defensive Driving Courses that have Corporate Driver Training that will help inform and educate there drivers.

My second issue with this story is that her punishment for drunken driving was only bail set for $85000. Peoples lives were at stake. Granted, no one was hurt, but that was luck. There were 25 kids on that bus that could have lost there lives because the bus driver decided she wanted to be careless and driver under the influence. I feel that the laws for punishment in the State of New Jersey were WAY to lenient in the justice of this crime.
