Understand Road Signs & Appreciate Warnings

<p>One of the worst habits many  drivers often fall into is disregarding road signs that seem to be mostly  irrelevant. Of course everyone is recognizes and understands the common things  like “Stop”, “Yield”, “Merge” and signs displaying speed limits. But there are  a number of other signs that line the roadways, many of which people don’t even  know what the mean or simply feel that whatever they’re warning about won’t  come in to play. If you find yourself passing road signs that you don’t  understand, it’s time you took a <a href=”https://ddo.vertex.com/defensive-driving-class.asp”>defensive driving class</a> as a refresher.</p>
<p>Take for example a deer crossing  sign. While it’s likely most drivers generally understand what that sign is  warning about, not nearly as many actually take it into account and adjust  accordingly. This is because the percentage of times one passes a deer crossing  sign relative to how many times they’ve actually seen a deer crossing makes  them easy to ignore. But those signs are there for a reason and so when you see  them, you should instantly become more alert and keep your eyes out for any  wildlife. </p>
<p>The same can be said for signs  that indicate a danger of falling rocks or other very specific situations. The  other problem you want to avoid is seeing a sign that you don’t understand or  find confusing. Rather than simply ignore the sign, you should take the time to  learn what the sign means so that you’re reacting accordingly to the warning it  is providing. </p>
