Riding in Cars with Friends

I took a road trip this weekend.  My dad reminded me I needed a working jack, full size spare tire, oil change, and maybe even a tune up.  The reminder was nearly enough to cancel the trip.  Had the trip been any less purposeful I would have gone straight to the dealership.  My oil change was near the three month mark, 3,000th mile, and I didn’t have the easy hydraulic jack.  I have the key-it-and spin to use jack.  I insisted that what I had would do fine in the event of an emergency.  Plus I have roadside assistance.   I was traveling with a friend and a baby.  My traveling grace saw us through safely.  With my defensive driving antennae in the air I was watchful of our driving conditions, weather, the condition of the vehicle, and passenger atmosphere.   As we passed cars stalled alongside the road I was so pleased that we were moving in true traveling style.  Operating a vehicle is a privilege that should be taken seriously.  I was proud to have earned the responsibility of a three hour drive on my own, without my parents.  I was aware of the deer playing along the side of the highway.  I was very fortunate to carry along my DefensiveDriving.com strategies.  We were so much better able to enjoy the trip.  My preparedness translated into something so much more meaningful than I could for see.  If you already have the responsibility of operating a vehicle go to www.DefensiveDriving.com to the  difference in your driving today!
