Is your car making you a BAD driver?

Posted on by Defensive Driving | in My Kind of Driving

Ever heard of the Peltzman Effect? It’s the theory that people have the tendency to react to a safety regulation by increasing other risky behavior thus offsetting some or all of the benefit of the regulation.  What a crazy idea, huh? Who would really do something like that?  I can tell you: anyone.  I saw a commercial recently advertising how smart the car was and thank goodness it was paying attention because the driver wasn’t.  Everyday I see top of the line cars on the road and the drivers testing how fast the car can really go and relying on those ABS to stop on a dime and save them from a crash.  Better yet the teen drivers who thinks that just because the car has dual airbags, anti lock breaks and crash detection that doing risky maneuvers will eliminate the risk of death or injury if there is a crash.  DefensiveDriving.com is dedicated to educating drivers on proper driving skills and techniques.  Check us out at www.DefensiveDriving.com
