Dugard Story

I recently watched a reenactment of the kidnapping of Jaycee Dugard.  At the age of 11 she was walking to her bus stop.  A car driving by her step-father, who was watching her walk to the bus stop, pulled in front of Jaycee, grabbed her and sped away.  She wasn’t found until 18 years later. 

As a mother of two young children, I am always mindful of where they go and what they are doing.   Never allowing them to "go by themselves" as I know there are so many dangers in the world today.  I would not wish what happened to Jaycee on anyone!  Can these types of occurrences be avoided?

We often ask if crashes can be avoided.  The same care and constant attention must be given while in your vehicle.  When my children are in the car with me I have the same responsibility to keep them as safe as possible.  It’s easy to get distracted when you are in the car, especially with two small children, but it’s also one of the most important times to PAY ATTENTION to the driving task. 

Keep in mind that even if you do not have children in the car, you have the same responsibility to keep children in other cars safe by not allowing distracted driving to come into play.
