Driving While Intoxicated: Not Always Drinking and Driving…

When people hear “DWI” they assume someone was drinking and driving. But that’s not always the case. Did you know that driving after taking prescription drugs is the equivalent of driving drunk? You could be charged with a DWI if you are caught driving under the influence of prescription drugs.

Unfortunately, Michelle Galvan of Houston, Texas learned this the hard way. I’ve always known to have a designated driver if I planned on driving, but thanks to DefensiveDriving.com’s driver safety course I now know to have a designated driver if I’m taking prescription drugs as well.
