May 31st through June 6th is National Click It or Ticket It Week, a campaign endorsed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and designed to encourage motorists to utilize their safety belt while driving.   Across the country, state and local law enforcement officers will be issuing tickets for motorists who fail to wear their safety belts.

Wearing your safety belt is important for your well being.  The NHTSA estimates seat belt usage is at an all time high, but real increases are driven not by the fear of injury but by the fear of fines.

So as you are out and about enjoying your Memorial Day Holiday, remember your neighborhood law enforcement officers will be as well and they will be issuing tickets for failing to be properly bucked up.
