Caution and Patience Make You Prepared to React…

It’s been said that patience is a virtue and that certainly is the case when it comes to driving. Much too often we fall under the false belief that we can save time getting to our destination by speeding or making quick and aggressive maneuvers with our car. The truth is, these things don’t save us much time, if any at all and really only increase the chances of an accident, which is something we should all be trying to avoid.

Drivers who fail to exhibit patience and caution when driving are the ones who find themselves receiving traffic violations or in accidents. When you’re on the road, you should be looking ahead to make sure that you have the right amount of time to make any lane changes. Give yourself plenty of room relative to the other cars on the road in case you need to make a sudden stop. When you wait until the last minute, you’re running the risk of cutting off another driver and that can start a chain reaction with bad consequences.

But it’s just as important to  be prepared for a situation when another driver cuts you off or when you are a link in someone else’s chain reaction. Defensive driving is about putting yourself in a position to react to others on the road do something unexpectedly. Unfortunately, in order to achieve this goal you have to drive as if others won’t be giving you the same courtesy.
