You Text, You Talk, You Drive – You Crash!

Posted on by Defensive Driving | in The Daily Drive

This is the latest campaign for driver safety and campaign to prevent accidents or fatalities related to distracted driving in Texas and this sign is all over the Houston Metro area sign network.

It is part of the ever growing campaign by traffic safety experts and law enforcement officials to combat distracted driving, which is taking as many lives now as drinking and driving.

The Texas State House of Representatives just passed a ban on texting and driving, but some would say the law is somewhat watered down, it bans typing and driving but does not ban reading the text?

The criminalization of texting and distracted driving will not reverse the current training, we need more public campaigns such as the traffic signs and more education.

Education is important, educated drivers set good examples for their kids with respect to mature driving behavior and creates a focus on safe driving habits.

DefensiveDriving.com has a reminder of its own related to distracted driving – it is not only the cell phone that distracts as the video below illustrates.
