Were his last words so important?

This past Thanksgiving weekend, I saw a horrendous car crash.  Two cars rolled over in a ditch along side a highway with debris scattered everywhere.   We unfortunately got upon the scene when the paramedics were carrying a black bag on a stretcher to the ambulance.   The usual question in the car was asked,  “I wonder what happened”?

Well, the two days later, my sister was reading online that the accident scene showed the driver of one car was texting at the time of the crash.   The driver was in a ten minute texting conversation prior to the accident.  In fact they even listed his last text.  “OMG, that sux, LO”

Yep, that does suck.  Two people dead, one teen in the back seat in critical condition with an amputated leg.  For what?  So somebody could pass the time driving with pointless text messages.  Not just one, but a conversation worth of texts.

A little common sense goes a long way.  Does anyone really need to be reminded from a defensive driving course or a distracted driving article or safety driving video that when you text while driving, no one is really driving the car?  Think about it, are you looking at the road?  Are you looking at on coming traffic?  No, you’re looking at a screen and some buttons.  You are not driving the car.

I guess the person on the other end of the text conversation can text the family of the killed people.  OMG, SRY, WTF
