Every May is National Youth Traffic Safety Month.  Several groups support and drive the focus on the dangers of driving for teens, the need for driver safety training for our youngest drivers and why we should have graduated license driver programs.   When I was growing up, we had drivers ed, but we did not have near the resources teens have today with respect to driver safety.

The Allstate Foundation in conjunction with the National Organizations for Youth Safety have put together a contest at www.actoutloud.org/#/home which focuses on the dangers of distracted driving.   As a company dedicated to driver safety training, the creativity of these young adults and the real focus they have on preventing the unnecessary loss of life is impressive.

The statistics are shocking…on average, 11 young adults die daily in car wrecks.   I was encouraged to see the content on these websites focused not only on distracted driving, but also on the dangers of speed and fatigue, which are major contributors to unnecessary loss of life and have gotten lost in the discussion relating to distracted driving.
