Careless Driving.

I recently read some statistics about the contributing causes of crashes in the State of Florida.  It did not matter whether or not the crash caused a fatality, or injury or just vehicle damage, but the leading cause was careless driving.  It wasn’t even close.

So what is careless driving?  When one is NOT operating a vehicle in a careful and prudent manner, having regard for the width, grade, curves, corners, traffic and all other circumstances, so as not to endanger life, limb or property of any person.

That’s a pretty broad definition, however it is also very telling that if you don’t do all you can while driving, there is a very likely chance of a crash.  I’m sure we’ll all see drivers each day who aren’t doing everything they can to be a careful driver.  Whether its the clown texting while driving or eating a sandwich or any other sort of distracted driving they’re doing.   So what can we do for ourselves to not be a statistic?   Pretty simple.  Make sure we’re following the practices involved in defensive driving.   If you have any doubts as to what they might be, sign up for an approved defensive driving course.
