Because I was 20…

Did you happen to hear about the young man who was celebrating leaving his teen years behind by “driving wildly and crashing in downtown Houston”?  Mature driving was definitely not on his happy birthday to do list.

An HPD officer spotted a black Chevy Silverado pickup truck traveling the wrong direction on Montrose coming from the Westheimer direction around 12:30 p.m. (Pay attention to the time people: NOON, downtown, lunch hour traffic!!) The officer attempted to give chase, but lost the speeding truck. The officer said the truck was brand new, but appeared to have significant damages as if it had swiped other vehicles. The truck plowed through two front yards, knocking down small trees and fences, then over a home’s brick steps and hit another tree.

The driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Police said the driver said he did not realize he hit anything. It was his 20th birthday.

He didn’t realize he hit anything…. talk about distracted driving.  This gentlemen could definitely benefit from any one of our approved defensive driving courses.
Hopefully he could learn a thing or two about mature driving and get point reduction for the ones that are surely to follow after his driving fiasco.
