Metro Scandal leaves a lot of questions unanswered

Apparently Metro has a policy which dictates all employees must successfully complete an approved defensive driving program prior to their being allowed to drive for Metro.

While I applaud Metro for having a company driver training program in place and taking corporate driver training seriously, something is wrong if wide spread cheating was allowed to take place.   Defensive Driving courses in Texas require third party validation by two independent databases of the individual who is taking an online driver safety course.   DefensiveDriving.com and our competitors have invested significant time and money to implement a third party data base check as required by the State of Texas.

What this means is we are required to use two different databases to validate the individuals identity throughout the online driver safety course and it prevents someone from taking a course for another person.   Throughout our online driver safety course, an individual is asked individual validation questions, known only to them based on third party data we verify, along with questions related to the content presented in the course, to ensure their individual participation and identity.

It appears the company serving Metro for its fleet driver training is not meeting the requirements all defensive driving courses in Texas are required to meet and as a result people have lost their jobs, Metro is questioning its own use of an employee driving program and at the end of the day, employee driving is no safer.   Then there are the overall questions opened up about online driver safety and how companies can use effectively for employee driving programs.

It is a shame people have to cheat on driver safety at any rate, because they are only cheating themselves and their customers and no one is any safer.
